Day 125
Here's a Mucha drawing. I haven't done one of his in awhile. It was pretty fun. So much of his drawings rely on one simple line, and since I love linear drawing, these are great to draw. However, you really only get one shot with your rendering.

Day 123
Another Rockwell... the guy's right hand was tough to get right. I was also surprised that his whole expression was his left eye. There is virtually no detail there, it's just a half circle. However, it had to be the RIGHT half circle. Considering that the beginning was so rough, I'm pretty pleased with this one...

Day 122
Like I mentioned in the previous post, drawing a portrait is like having a conversation with someone. If you do it right, you get an understanding of the person; sometimes without even having known them. When I was drawing Jimmy yesterday, I felt a sense urgency and wanted to do an accurate job almost out of respect to him and anyone who knew him. I wanted to capture the kindness in his eyes and a bit of his essence. I felt like I had a chance to get to know him while I was drawing him.
In a unfortunate turn in events, Jimmy Lester passed away a few hours ago. He we will missed by everyone who knew him. He will even be missed by me, someone who had never met him.

Day 121 Jimmy Lester
The Drawing of the Day: Jimmy Lester
I have never had the pleasure of meeting Jimmy (He is the friend of a friend). From what I hear, Jimmy is a good as it gets.
When drawing a portrait, I have always thought it was like having a long meaningful conversation with that person. You get to look at the person and study their facial features and really understand their expressions.
This drawing was very important for me to do an accurate job with. This was the idea of one of his friends to act a one of many living tribute to a great man.
Jimmy, if you read this, I hope I did you justice.

Day 120
Here's a drawing of my friend's dog. This dog is hilarious and awesome. I hardly ever do drawing or paintings of animals, so this was kinda fun. He's a noble beast...
